My teaching philosophy is easy; “you never stop
learning and you never give up trying to learn”. As a teacher, you learn to
adapt your lessons to each students’ unique needs. Every student learns
differently and they enter your classroom equipped with different
experiences and knowledge. I have grown to appreciate this perspective because
you need to undertsand where your students are coming from before you can
expect them to understand what you are trying to teach. Interestingly, before a
lesson plan is written, the teacher should know who they are teaching. A
subject matter can easily be written in the objective section of every lesson
plan, but how it is taught is based on your understanding of the student(s).
I
believe if you show interest in your students, they are going to show
interest in what you are trying to teach. This philosophy is based on learning
and knowing who your audience is. I have found that every lesson plan is
considered well written only when your students buy into it. If you lose
your students interest and motivation, your lesson plan will have the least
impact and success. Lastly, I have found that the most difficult students are
the one’s you learn the most from. I have recognized that I can learn from
my students and once I accepted this idea, my students have been able to
learn from me.
